"Point" here means percentage point.
Gain from 25% to 50% is a 100% gain, a 25 percentage points gain.
Gain from 11% to 66% is a 600% gain, a 55 percentage points gain.
Obama 45% to Romney 41% last week. 4 percentage points lead.
