Hey! Literally that is what it would mean. But I think it is "shot me out of the sky" in the sense like "Blew me away"..
But that's what I am guessing.. xD

Actually, I think those answers from that link, kind of missed the point.
"Shot me out of the sky" gives the imagery of a bird happily flying along, high in the sky, when suddenly he is hit by a (hunter's) bullet and plummets out of the sky. (I'm sure you've seen movies when hunters shoot ducks out of the sky.) It's a sense of something happening suddenly and abruptly, you're out of control and falling, and your whole life changes. Or ends.
Superman never just gets shot out of the sky. Ever.
They just mashed two analogies together.
