Distract: something that (momenarily or for a long time), takes a person’s attention away from what he/she is concentrating on.
Interrupt: cause someone or something to stop the activity they are doing (you can interrupt a flow of water).
Disturb: alter the state of someone or something on a permanent or semi-permanent basis
