Qual é a diferença entre What did you do today? e What have you done today? ?Podes indicar apenas respostas exemplo.

I am constantly confused with the Present Perfect and the Past Simple. Seems like different grammar sources(from native speakers) give a different explanation. In one source I found that if the time period has not finished yet (like today, this week, this month, this year), we have to use the Present Perfect. While other sources stated that when you specify the time (today was given as an example there), you have to use the Past Simple.

Well, the sentence with the Present Perfect makes more sense since the period you're talking about (today) isn't over yet, but I think the one with Past Simple is acceptable if you're asking someone a question late at night, for example. Present Perfect can be quite tricky, perhaps a native speaker from the UK can clarify this to us.
