Try to is sort of like a command, for example, ‘try to do better next time’ or ‘try to say it like this as it sounds more correct’, whereas as trying is when someone is in the process of trying, for example, if someone says ‘what’re you doing’, someone could reply saying ‘I’m trying to make a cheesecake’ or ‘I’m trying to learn korean’
