17. We usually turn 18 in our first year of university. (At least in Queensland.)

Once they finish year 12 so maybe 17, 18 or 19 also we call it uni

It’s just easier so say uni instead of university

A lot of young people (17-21) will go to uni immediately after high school, or a few years later, but there are many older people studying for a career change.
It depends on the degree as well, some courses may have a lot of young people who have just left school, while other courses may be mostly full of people in their early 30s.
