The two phrases are very similar and technically do not have a difference; however, trust is a general sense of emotions and often when you trust someone you are closer to them and have more faith in understanding what they say is true. Often when you trust someone you believe in them as well. Also trust me refers more to trusting someone’s actions and words whereas believe is more so only used to believe someone’s words. (Does they make sense?)
Ex.
If you were in a risky situation and you didn’t feel safe, someone could say trust me in the sense that they will make sure you are okay.
If you are in a risky situation and someone and again you don’t feel safe someone could say believe me you won’t get hurt.
In others words trust me could be said on its own; whereas, you typically wouldn’t say believe me by it’s self. Usually there will be a phrase that follows.
Sorry if that’s confusing.

"Believe me" means when someone is trying to get someone to believe in what they are saying/doing and "trust me" means when someone is trying to tell someone else to trust them with a certain task. In some contexts, they can mean the same thing, however, it sounds better to use one word over the other.
Examples:
1.)Do you really think this is true? Believe me/trust me, it definitely is.
2.)How are you going to get that for me? Trust me, I can do it. (It sounds a bit unnatural to say believe me in this context.) Hope this helped!

Believe me is telling someone to have faith in what your saying and trust me it telling someone to have faith in you as a person for example you didnt or did do something you would say believe me but if someone and you was doing a trust fall you want the person is falling to trust you or you would have trust in the person that is catching you
