Pergunta sobre Inglês (EUA)
I recently noticed that an old English literature book used a sentence that is rarely used in modern English. They say, Had she died, and my friend told me it's like a conditional (grammatically) so it can be said if she had died. Could someone elaborate more on this? I am not sure about this

@ejrgus1755 its more context based. Had refers to as "has happened". So Had she died is to say, her death has happened. But it makes sense in context.

I don't know of the reliability of that claim. But I do know it is not used commonly today.
