@themadhiker: to be honest, there is no difference. Only thing I could say is that "czytam książki każdego dnia" sounds like a textbook phrase and I wouldn't really say that in every day conversation. Let's imagine that someone asks me how often do I read books. I'd say:
- Codziennie czytam książki.
In Polish there is not much difference between the order of the words in this sentence too.

My first instinct is to say that the difference is same as: I read books everyday. VS I read books every day. Both are correct but the second one is a bit more odd. Although każdego dnia can be used without error, it's a stylistic difference (and the common use if codziennie).
