The meaning of all three words is essentially the same, but they each have a slightly different nuance.
Genocide: the systematic slaughter of a group of people (often by governments against particular ethnicities)
Massacre: involves the killing of many people (generally indiscriminate, not systematic)
Carnage: similar to massacre but may be used more broadly to refer to a situation of death and destruction
