@davehagen443 Spanish, doesn't matter where you are (Spain or America), if you speak It as a native, you follow the Real Academia Española rules. It means we all have the same language. The only few differences are the pronunciation and, as every country in the world, the use of jargons. I think the main difference between Spain spanish and rest of America It is the pronunciation of S, C, and Z.
In Spain you pronounce the S like in America but with a little bit of noise; and about the C and Z pronunciation, they are the same and are pronounced like an english 'TH' of "through". While in America C and Z sounds as a S (but not a S with noise, It is softer).
So, in America there is no difference between the pronunciation of "casa" (house), "caza" (hunt), "César" (a name), etc. But if you are studying Spain spanish you pronounce "casa" (casa), "caza" (catha (not like a D)), and "César" (thesar (like "through" 'TH' and not like "these").
I can say It is the same difference that you have between USA and England. Or Portugal vs Brasil.
