junk - lixo (geralmente que tem valor) e costuma ser mais coloquial
We bought our things from the junkyard.
trash - lixo (geralmente que não tem valor)

Not much, "junk" is usually more like large, possibly re-usable stuff(often metal), and ”trash" usually means things that can no longer be used, like broken objects, rotten food, and things like that. but they can usually be used interchangeably 😊
