ちなみに、「one」を使うとかなり堅い言い方になりますね。

Um pouco artificial
@hapybrian Yours would fit better than "the" if the word "one" wasn't already used in the sentence.

@emirhan1907 I disagree, because the "one" I added is the same "one" as in the previous phrase. It's analogous to:
"One should not make rash decisions without the advice of one's friends."
In both clauses, "one" refers to the same person (a general "one"). This is the same as in OP's sentence:
「all that differs depending on the society one belongs to, is one's way of thinking」
"one" is again a general "one"; i.e. "some person".
"All that differs depending on the society a person belongs to, is the person's way of thinking."
Of course, repetition of words--especially within one sentence--is to be avoided, but not always.

@hapybrian Yes, I did know that the word "one" was refering to the same person, and I actually do think that using it, is valid, but I don't think it would sound good due to the repetition of words and the fact that it isn't a commonly used double (one-one's), or it might be that it is just I who hasn't seen it being used before.
