Like is something you appreciate or find appealing.
Love is either you really like or are very passionate about something/someone.
Both sound the same in sentences so tone and how it's being said determine how much or less they mean it.
"I like/love my dog."
"I like to go outside."
"I love ice cream."
"I like hanging out with you."
"I love hanging out with you guys!"
"Do you like to talk?"
"Where do you like to run?"
"You love to run don't you?"

Love is much more complex. English doesn't accurately capture the different forms of love well. Obviously you love your favorite sports team differently than you love your friends or your family or your spouse, and much differently than you “love” your new iPhone.
