Yup, that's perfectly fine. The nuance is different though.
Preferring X over Y suggests that X is better than Y, but Y may be good too.
Preferring X rather than Y suggests that X is good while Y is "meh" or unpleasant.

(Tonight is better)
"I'd rather" sounds more casual here. Depending on your intonation it might be friendly (I don't wanna wait) or sorta rude (I'm busy, so I'd rather get it done with now)
Don't worry to much about the nuance really, it depends more on HOW you say things than what you actually say, in this case.

@isabeladantas94 They both make sense. But it depends how much you want to go tonight. If you only want to go tonight, use rather. If you don't mind going another night, you can use prefer.
