Qual é a diferença entre He is on the basketball team. e She is in the music club. ?Podes indicar apenas respostas exemplo.

These are examples on my son's English textbook. Why one is "on the" and the other is "in the"? Why there is such difference? Are both correct?

Interesting! They both mean the same thing, but they can't be used interchangeably.
You can't say, "She is on the music club."
You also can't say, "He is in the basketball team." in US English, although I think it's okay in British English.
I searched online for an answer, and I found this one from FreeToyInside on usingenglish.com:
"...if you are part of a collaboration with different people all working toward the same goal, then you are 'on a team'... When you say 'in a team,' it feels like the only thing you stress is that you're not alone, but there's a group of you."
So in the basketball team example, you are "on" a team of people all working towards the same goal = winning.
If you are in the music club, you are part of a group of people who are all interested in music, but who are not necessarily working together towards a common goal.
I don't know if this is 100% accurate, but I thought it was interesting.
