They have the same meaning.
In the first sentence you say "I would have preferred" and in the second one "I would have wanted" but they have the same meaning.

actually there's a little difference.
"Avrei preferito" implies You'd rather be at home but it's kinda fine to you although the weather is bad.
"Avrei voluto" instead is a bit stronger and you basically say that you are bothered of being outside with that weather.
But they're both completely correct and you can freely use them both.
