Drinking tea = (a quantity of) tea. Same with water, coffee, coke, any kind of liquid.
You can say “drinking a tea” as well, it is more like 차는 or 차 한 개: drinking a (single cup of) tea instead of a (single cup of) coffee.
Likewise you can drink a coffee, or drink coffee; drink a beer or drink beer.
Both are fine, slightly different nuance.
