Looking at some of the examples, I'm wondering if the latter has a broader meaning since ”make your voice heard” roughly means "to convey an opinion" and ”make yourself heard” is used in the context of not only conveying an opinion but also physically reaching your voice to someone (in a noisy surrounding environment).

-The programme gives ordinary viewers a chance to make their voices heard.

-He had a hard job to make himself heard.
-She couldn't make herself heard above the noise of the traffic.

In my dictionary, ”make oneself heard” is explained as 1) to let one's voice be heard (by shouting to the other person), 2) to make one's opinion acceptable to the other person; to state one's opinion.
Is it correct to say that it is not used in the sense of 2)?
