No difference, but for the second sentence, maybe you would be talking about things specific to the US (I visited the Statue of Liberty).

Yes, they mean the same, but the second sentence allows for the possibility you visited other countries during your vacation. The sentence order puts emphasis on "in the US", while the first sentence puts emphasis "on my vacation". When you say the first sentence, I imagine you only went to the US for your vacation.
