Very very small difference in meaning. Mostly interchangeable in writing.
I feel like the first implies that I attempted to open the door for some time in the past, but then gave up. Perhaps someone else can open it, but I am no longer trying to. Depending on how it is said or used I might gather that the speaker either didn't try very hard to open the door, or decided that they were never going to be able to get the door open (and want me to do it).
The second is a very neutral statement. The reason you weren't able to open the door is unclear, and without more context (such as spoken emphasis in English) the reader/listener has no further information about the door.

In the first example, you are telling me that you actually tried to open the door. You made an effort and failed. It suggests that you didn't just jiggle the handle and then walked away. Perhaps you looked to see if the door was stuck or blocked before you eventually stopped trying to open it.
In the second example, the door was probably locked from the other side, so you turned and walked away.
