@lucyhollings so can I say.
*I'm encased with oil.
*you're encased with pigeon poop.
*I'm encased with oil.
*you're encased with pigeon poop.
- Inglês (RU)
@HDGD we normally say 'you're encased IN + (something VERY thick and tough). Oil is too thin and runny. Pigeon poop is better, but still not very thick.

@HDGD grease is better but it would have to be a very thick layer -like at least 1cm thick

You can say 'encased in a thick layer of grease'.
That definitely works.

@lucyhollings the way I've heard it was like this.
*I was encased in grease.
the person who said it didn't say thick of layer
*I was encased in grease.
the person who said it didn't say thick of layer
- Inglês (RU)
@HDGD That would imply that the grease was thick, then

@lucyhollings then I don't have to say that it was thick of layers.
so if I say oil and pigeon poop people would know that it was a thick texture... am I right???

@HDGD It makes sense if you say oil and pigeon poop, it just doesn't sound.... right. My feel for the word is it needs to be surrounded by a solid, thick or tough layer, like old beeswax, or tar, or lead, or stone or concrete or resin. Like any word, you will find examples of people using it differently but this is my intuition.
I would say covered in thin liquids, like oil, mud, pigeon poop, paint, or powders like dust, dirt, flour, or objects, like books, dishes, leaves, etc. (covered is a generic word)
Other words are much more specific.
sheathed in a thin flat shell of metal, like sheet steel, copper plates, brass, etc.
swathed or swaddled in cloth, like blankets, bandages
enveloped, swathed, shrouded in vapours and gases, like mist, fog, cloud, darkness, secrecy
