A more natural way to put it is, “It’s better/best to save myself the trouble”. Using “from the trouble” is a little awkward in this saying.
The other would be, “It’s better/best to keep myself out of trouble”
They have different meanings. Saving myself the trouble means I am not going to use effort that I know will probably be wasted anyway, or that I know I won’t enjoy using.
Keeping myself out of trouble means making smart decisions that are likely to keep me out of bad situations or from experiencing consequences.
