Why does the US elections takes three months ?
Why does it is not quick ?
Like, here in France we elect our president on beginning of May and then the next week he/she enters into the Elysée Palace.

The election itself only takes 1 day; it took longer this year because of many people using absentee ballots to avoid catching Covid-19 at the polls. But between November and January is the transition period of the staff.
It was originally this way because it took a long time to travel by horse. They needed enough time to get the results from all states, have the President travel, send messages to any new members of staff, and have them come to the White House also.
