For this word when you add ‘ing’ it is much easier than some others, it is ‘avoiding’
Here are some example sentences :
“Let’s start avoiding them.”
“Why are they avoiding us?”
“My hand just seems to keep on avoiding the target!”
You add the ‘ing’ at the end it can be used for almost all contexts, past present and future, but to tell the difference you would need to look at the context.
