I don't think it's fake since they don't recognize it when it's upside down, that's kind of a trick in the sense that we're not used to looking at our country on a map upside down.. I don't think the guy at 52 seconds is an American.
We're a lot bigger than people think, the US. So I don't think it would be too hard to sit there all day long, interview hundreds of people, and find a very small number of people that are dumb and can't identify the US. That doesn't mean we're all stupid.
Edit: You changed the link to a different kimmel video, same topic, so now my reply doesn't make sense. I still stand by what I said though, if you interview enough people, you're bound to find some dumb people.

It’s pure entertainment. If you ask fifty people, you’re bound to find a few who don’t know where China is and a few who point out that the map on the board doesn’t show the border between North and South Sudan. Which ones you choose to show depends on what joke they want to tell.
