Pergunta sobre BÉLGICA
I am not Belgian and I want to study Veterinary Medicine in my country and practice it in Belgium, since there is not a good quality of work for these professionals here. Do you think it is worth leaving Spain to practice as a veterinarian in Belgium? Is it a career and profession valued in your country? Is there job quality? Being a foreigner, is it difficult for me to be accepted into a job or is there usually no division between foreigners and natives?

When I talk about being a veterinarian, I am talking about more traditional outings, such as working in a small animal and large animal clinic

Veterinarian is a highly valued profession in Belgium. There is nothing to worry about. But is it a good idea to leave one's country to come and work in Belgium in this sector? Err... I don't think so.
If you have a European diploma, there are no problems working in Belgium. However, the number of veterinarians practicing in Belgium is incredibly high. There is a lot of competition and, in interviews, veterinarians advise to find more remote areas or to go to the Netherlands or France. Many young people who finish compulsory education decide to embark on veterinary studies with very difficult exams. In my circle of friends alone, three people have decided to do this job.
When I look at the phone book of Belgium, in the section on the least populated province of the country (province of Luxembourg), there are already 574 results. This is huge, and yet not all of them are referenced: https://www.pagesdor.be/entreprises/Luxembourg/...
It is also very difficult to build a clientele, because people who have animals have already chosen their veterinarian. Anyone who wants to obtain clients in Belgium has to be motivated, have a lot of availability and above all be specialised in a somewhat rarer field, such as horse dentistry. This would help to distinguish you from other veterinarians.
Finally, as far as the foreign-Belgian inequality is concerned, it is quite complex. In very big cities like Brussels or Antwerp, there are a lot of foreigners and people are not afraid to use their services. But in more rural areas it is much more complicated for a foreigner. People are more suspicious. Your advantage, however, is that Belgians are generally not prejudiced against Spaniards, we can't say the same for some ethnic groups.
If you work in a practice with other Belgian veterinarians, perhaps this can be done more easily.
As a freelancer, you will inevitably be confronted with clients who do not speak the same language as you do and who may be afraid that you do not fully understand their animal's problem. Speaking Dutch and/or French at a quasi-native level is essential to practice this profession in Belgium. And you will have to show it to your clients by speaking with them almost perfectly.
Finally, if you decide to assist another veterinarian, knowing that there are a lot of new Belgian veterinarians every year, there is a good chance that you will not be a priority because the veterinarians will call on young people from Belgian universities, or even from their own old university.
