Someone is lost refers to not knowing where you are. For example, Someone got lost at the park today"
The person did not know in what part of the park they are, but they are in the park.
Someone is missing means they are not they're at all. For example, you can say "30 people were supposed to come to the meeting today, but someone is missing"
This means that someone did not attend the meeting. In other words, something is not in the meeting.
