Technically in English you are not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition. So, "How long have you been studying English?" is the grammatically correct one.
People say the second sentence all the time in casual speech, though. I only worry about not ending my sentences in propositions if I am writing something formal, like for work or school.

@Diplomat88 yeah, that is casual and less common to say. It definitely is said, just less commonly than ending with "for."
