Wash means to clean your body.
Shampoo means to clean your hair.
However you can say "Wash my hair" which would be the same as "Shampoo"

You can shampoo hair-like things or things with hair, which includes carpets.
Wash = clean
Shampoo = use shampoo to clean

@yukindakerr "Shampoo" can be used with anything, but you must use shampoo to clean the the object. For example:
"I will shampoo my car"- I will wash/clean my car with shampoo
