@unpredictablecrow Both are acceptable. To be really precise, the first would be when you are physically in a parking lot, and the second is when you are near one, or approaching one. :)

2. Is correct
If you said "I'm in a parking lot". It sounds like you literally made into the parking lot. Instead we use " Im at a parking lot "
Only use "Im in" when your in a building

@KimDaeun We regularly use "in" in this sentence, especially if it's an indoor parking lot! :)

@KimDaeun It is, though. Both are equally acceptable :) In fact, I tend to hear "in" being used in this sentence more often, but "at" is also very commonly used. :)
As @shadowfox said, using "in" implies you're physically within the boundaries of a parking lot, while using "at" is a little less specific, as it could also mean you're near one. :)
