modest, or liar? low self-esteem?
it depends on their tone.
if they're genuinely thinking they can't, and don't believe they can do well when they actually can, that'd be modest/insecure/low self-esteem/low self-confidence.
if they're saying that when they know they can, that's attention-seeking/lying, etc.
it also depends on whether you want to compliment them or be harsh about it.
if this is confusing, i'll be happy to elaborate on anything, ahha.
