I think english is integrating Spanish in it little by little, after a hundred year people would shift to the less strict english compared to Spanish.

I live in the U.S. and I can say that because of Mexican migration Spanish is very popular here, especially in Southern states such as Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California. If you go to the North, French and German are the lingua franca.
