No, not really. They were always for the very rich: for people who got their money from country estates, but wanted to spend it in London. Nowadays travel is better, so people can just go in and out of the city as they like, and the very rich are more likely to just live in a city anyway.
A few do still exist, but they’re less central in the lives of their members and many fewer people belong to one.

The idea of the "English Gentleman" is extremely outdated.
A modern "gentleman's club" is usually synonymous with "strip club"
