If you “open up” to someone, you tell them something personal and private. Usually, “open” and “open up” both translate to “abrir” in Spanish

@tristannicol818 thank you!, I can then use open and open up for "abrir" in most situations. I dont know why most americans use more open up instead of just open.

@robinsonurriola That is a good question. I think that simply saying “open” is more common in almost every situation.
