They are the same, but normally you would only call small things "possessions". A watch can be one of your "possessions", or your "property", but a house is normally only your "property".

Actually, "posession" is some specific thing you own, while "property" is the things you own as a whole.
"Property" also refers to buildings and the land on which they stand, but it doesn't always.
