To scream blue murder has gone out of common use in recent years - like so many other such expressions. Time moves on! My parents certainly used it but I can’t recall ever having the need or desire to do so myself.

@Alice_Snow it's used in novels. I remember seeing it for the first time in Matilda by Roald Dahl 😄 since then I think I've seen it about three more times in other books. I think it's quite rare.

I've never heard the expression personally, the closest I've heard is "to scream bloody murder"
