To me, 'will be' implies a serious lack of confidence. 'Can be' implies that it is impossible. I have NO confidence.

In casual speech, I think people often use them interchangeably. If I were arguing with my wife and she said 'don't get angry' I would take it to mean that I have a choice, and I am wrong if I chooose to be angry. If she said 'don't be angry' of sounds a bit more gentle, like she is being sympathetic rather than combative.
I'm curious to know if anyone else sees it that way.
