Questions about example sentences with, and the definition and usage of "It"

A: “I'm killed telling her it's wrong” does not sound natural. Is this a translation? Did you mean “I’m dead if I tell her it’s/she’s wrong” or “she’s going to kill me if I tell her it’s/she’s wrong”

The bread tastes of garlic - there is garlic in the bread
The room smells of flowers - there are flowers in the kitchen

"It ____ like" - the object's taste or smell is reminiscent of something different:
The lipstick smells like chocolate - there isn't actual chocolate in the lipstick, but the smell reminds you of it
Pepsi tastes like grape juice - I couldn't think of anything else right now but there probably isn't grape juice in Pepsi
