For the last part, I had interpreted it as if you had viewed your own body negatively, but I'm not sure if you meant it that way.

A lot of your tenses don't flow into each other, but there are different ways to write the tense you're trying (I think) to use. Using 'had' or not using 'had' for example are almost entirely interchangable here.
