Synonyms of "Contaminate" and their differences

Q: Qual é a diferença entre contaminate e pollute ?
A: They are very similar. But "contaminate" does not necessarily have the moral implications that "pollute" does. Pollution, in this sense, can be a stronger and an (even more) negative word.

Anytime that something is no longer 100% pure you can say it is contaminated. So if a lab is working on frog DNA and some dust gets on the sample you can say that the sample is contaminated, but you would not say that the dust was "pollution." There is no moral implication to the dust.

If we used it metaphorically, if we say a person's mind has been "contaminated," it means that there are ideas that have been put there that should not be there. Perhaps we might say their "pure" thoughts became "contaminated" by reading a political philosophy we find distasteful. But if we say a person's mind is "polluted," it is much stronger -- you are saying that they are completely dirty and corrupt. There is a moral outrage to the word "polluted."

Both terms are most often used for environmental issues though, and in that context they are effectively the same thing.

If I say:

"The groundwater has been contaminated with chemicals from the nearby factory."

v.s.

"The groundwater has been polluted with chemicals from the nearby factory."

I am effectively saying the same thing, though the second one has a little bit of an undercurrent of moral outrage and the first one is a little bit more of a scientific statement of fact.
Q: Qual é a diferença entre contaminate e pollute ?
A: Contamination is unwanted material that isn't harmful.
"This pool is contaminated with fish"

Pollution is unwanted material that is harmful. "The air is polluted with chemicals"

Honestly natives use both to mean the same thing. I just gave you the official definitions.
Q: Qual é a diferença entre contaminate e contract ?
A: contaminate: to cause something to be able to cause sickness
contract: to get a disease (or business deal)
Q: Qual é a diferença entre contaminate e pollute ?
A: I would say that there is no real difference between the two, as they both mean the same thing. They are pretty much interchangeable.

Contaminate means to make something impure.

Pollute means to contaminate something using harmful substances.
Q: Qual é a diferença entre contaminate e pollute ?
A: Contaminate is used mostly in the sense of making objects impure such as chemicals. Pollute means almost the same thing and can also refer to the act of making some chemical or natural feature impure by adding pollutes, but pollute is used also for acts of making something unclean in a ceremonial sense, in which case one synonym would be 'desecrate'. So Pollute has a broader usage than contaminate
